Unlike other faiths where baptism is a one-time event, Mandaeans practice frequent ritual immersion in "living water" (flowing freshwater).
Where: We frequently gather at the Guadalupe River or other local San Antonio rivers.
When: Baptisms occur on Sundays, during major festivals, or for life milestones like weddings and births.
The Ritual: Adherents wear white cotton robes (rasta) to represent purity and light. The ceremony is led by a priest (tarmida) or a helper (eshkenda).
The community has established a cultural center in San Antonio that serves as the heart of their social life.
Social Gathering: It is used for prayer, meetings, weddings, and community religious celebrations.
Education: Efforts are made here to teach the younger generation the Mandaic alphabet and language to ensure their ancient texts, like the Ginza Rabba (The Great Treasure), can still be read and holding classes to familiarize them with religious ceremonies
Holiday Celebrations: Major religious celebration like Parwanaya are celebrated with communal meals and prayers.
